No this was one of Yuji Naka's original designs for Sega's mascot along with mighty the armadillo, a rip off Wile E. Coyote, a bulldog in pyjama's, an old dwarf which later become golden Axe's Gilius, a balloon shaped man mocking President Roosenvelt which later became Dr. Eggman and a bushy hedgehog called Mr. Needlemouse which later became the chosen mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog
